Greece – Special on Aterballetto at Athens and Epidaurus Festival

On July 10th a performance, on the 11th a site-specific event that will become an exhibit set until September

Aterballetto attends the Athens and Epidaurus Festival for the first time and stages the richness and originality of its new productive course.

On July 10th, in Athens, between the Agora and the Piraeus, the dance company presents the double bill Wolf / BLISS.

Wolf is a choreography by Hofesh Shechter expressly realized for Aterballetto in 2017. A creation characterized by a sort of wild animal quality, running through men and women now and then. The overall composition carries us into a totally original and engaging universe.

BLISS is another choreography realized exclusively for Aterballetto. Created by Johan Inger in 2016, it is a brilliant translation of the Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett into an emotional and playful dance.

The second appointment is on July 11th with In/Finito, a dance and photography project with site-specific performances whose purpose is to compare the dimension of danced movement with the very fixed nature of its photographic representation.

Six choreographers, all under 35, created six solos for six dancers of the company, which will be set in Athens among the historical stones of the Ancient Agora. Here the performances are shot by well-known Greek photographer Costas Ordolis, and the result will be a photo exhibition taking place from July 15th to September 10th at the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens.

The events are part of "Tempo Forte Italia- Eλλάδα 2019", a programme by the Embassy of Italy in Athens and the Dept for Performing Arts of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, along with cultural institutions, foundations, museums, artists and friends of culture from Greece and Italy, aiming at bringing "more Italy to Greece and more Greece to Italy".

Also the concert by Riccardo Muti The Roads of Friendship – Ravenna-Athens and the performance by Romeo Castellucci La vita nuova programmed within the Athens & Epidaurus Festival are part of “Tempo Forte Italia-Grecia 2019”.
