"Archeo3D’Italia" by Altair4 Multimedia

The new video-platform dedicated to the Italian UNESCO archaeological sites promoted by the MAECI

On April 18, on the occasion of the International Day for UNESCO Monuments and Sites, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has launched a new initiative:  Archeo3D’Italia, the new web platform dedicated to the Italian archaeological sites registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The platform – which is available in English and Italian language – offers interactive maps and video-documentaries of the twelve Italian archaeological sites, a spectacular virtual trip that allows us to (re)discover them in relation to their natural, historical and cultural context.

Archeo3D’Italia was made by Altair4 Multimedia, creative atelier based in Reggio Emilia and in Rome, and company specialized in the 3D reconstruction of ancient sites. Created in collaboration with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, it was curated by Professor Vincent Jolivet, while the direction was by Alessandro Furlan.

From the Colosseum in Rome to the Verona Arena, from the Etruscan necropolises in Cerveteri to the Magna Graecia temples in Agrigento, from Paestum to Pompei, from Aquileia to Piazza Armerina, each site features video clips in 3D computer graphics, which show virtual elevations and findings, the original structure, the different phases of their evolution.

A fascinating trip in fascinating places, and the opportunity of an "up-close look" thanks to Altair4’s excellent work.
