China – “Family Affairs” by ZimmerFrei
Family Affairs is a collection of 234 portraits of people from families of all kinds - from small households to extended and elective families - met by the collective ZimmerFrei in Europe and overseas over four years.
ZimmerFrei attends the 8th Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture Bi-City with this video installation at the MOCAUP - Museum of Art and Urban Planning, which introduces to section Ascending City, curated by Fabio Cavallucci and Meng Jianming.
The installation is distributed on four screens and interweaves with other four screens of Homo Urbanus, the work by filmmakers Bêka & Lemoine dedicated to urban spaces of metropolises on four continents.
The two installations create a dense fabric of urban sounds, glimpses, faces and voices of people who inhabit specific places scattered in an uninterrupted urban geography that potentially connects us to each other.
Family Affairs was produced with the support of the Creative Europe Programme and of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission, in co-production with several bodies from Emilia-Romagna, Italy, and abroad.
