L’arboreto - Teatro Dimora di Mondaino sets off again on the path toward the European artistic and performative scene as partner of a new large-scale Creative Europe project called Stronger Peripheries: a Southern Coalition.

The previous experience of the European project A Manual on Work and Happiness (2017-2018) marked the beginning of a permanent European cooperation network, 'Southern Coalition', for residency activities, artistic co-productions, transnational mobility, audience development and participatory artistic practices, striving on alternative models able to integrate the reality of the hinterland, the "suburbs that watch the world".

The renewal of the partnership has led to the new European project Stronger Peripheries: a Southern Coalition gathering 14 partners from 10 different countries: Portugal, Spain, the Republic of Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Italy, and France.

The leader of the new project is Artemrede, a Portuguese theatre network, the partners are: L’arboreto - Teatro Dimora, Mondaino, Italy; Pergine Spettacolo Aperto, Pergine, Italy; Teatro di Sardegna, Cagliari, Italy; Pogon, Zagreb, Croatia; Centrul Cultural Clujean, Cluj, Romania; Bunker, Ljubljana, Slovenia; Xarxa Transversal, Mataró, Spain; ProProgressione, Budapest, Hungary; ISCTE Lisboa University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal; University of Barcelona, Spain; University of Belgrade, Serbia; Occitane en Scene, France; PCAI, Piraeus, Greece.

It is an articulated and complex European network interfacing with different segments of the performing arts scene and processes of study, research and production of artistic works: places and projects of residence, theatres, festivals, production and cultural centres, universities.

«The previous experience made us reflect on the extraordinary connection between the cultural identity of a small provincial country and the international scene», the Arboreto’s operators say, «and likewise on the vitality of a place of residence allowing the mobility of "foreigners", from a state of art to a geographic state that goes beyond any border of belonging».

The official announcement arrived on June 2nd. From 2021, for four years, operators and scholars will meet and work (also) inside the theatre in the wood L’arboreto, closely with the artists of the territory and the community of the area of Mondaino.
