#laculturanonsiferma. Homage to Giorgio Bassani

The video “Rolls Royce” remembers the writer 20 years after his death. From May 5th, on Lepida Tv

"Rolls Royce" is the video produced by the City of Ferrara to remember Giorgio Bassani 20 years after his decease (April 13, 2000), the tribute the city wanted to pay to the writer and poet who more than any other was able to tell the essence of Ferrara.

The video has been conceived from an idea by Marco Gulinelli, Councillor for Culture of the City of Ferrara, the direction is by Andrea Forlani. On the background of charming images of the city, important figures of Italian culture recite the poem Rolls Royce.

It is a lyric of symbolic and evocative depth, childhood memories are marked by the names of streets and places of Ferrara while the writer imagines that a Rolls "with big dark crystals", driven by a "rigid chauffeur", lead him out of his beloved city for the last trip.

It is the voice of Giorgio Bassani himself who reads the incipit, and the recitation gets on with his daughter Paola Bassani, the actors Gabriele Lavia and Umberto Orsini, who in 1955 were his students at the "Silvio D'Amico" National Academy of Dramatic Art, where the writer taught History of theatre.
The video includes readings by Elisabetta Sgarbi, general director of the publishing house La Nave di Teseo, and contributions by Lavinia Bassani, Giorgio's niece, and Vittorio Sgarbi, a long-time friend of the Bassani family.

Broadcast on May 5th at 07:15 p.m. as part of the programming of  #laculturanonsiferma (on EmiliaRomagnaCreativa, Lepida TvLepidaTV OnAir YouTube channel, channel 118 of Emilia-Romagna DT, channel 5118 of Sky), “Rolls Royce” will remain available on Lepida Tv.
