April 1st symbolically opens the year dedicated to the Artusi's bicentenary

Celebrations via web on Casa Artusi's social channels and live on Rai Radio3 at 8 p.m.

It was April 1st, 1911 when the telegram arrived in Forlimpopoli saying: "Pellegrino Artusi died, establishing the heir of the Municipality of Forlimpopoli. The notary will follow. Funeral today fourteen and a half hours. I look forward to meeting your coming. Antonio Bonavita, Piazza d'Azeglio, 25".

So, 59 years after his departure from his hometown, Artusi returned to Forlimpopoli and bequeathed to it, in addition to the assets that would have allowed the opening of the library and various social welfare services, nationally and internationally fame thanks to its volume Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well.

For this reason, April 1st was chosen as the symbolic starting date of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Artusi’s birth, and since it could not be celebrated with live events, the City of Forlimpopoli decided to hold at least some events via web.

From April 1st, on the Library's YouTube channel, we can find the first 20 video-recipes recorded by the citizens of Forlimpopoli and by Artusi lovers as part of the project Artusi aloud, that aims at creating a web-book dedicated to the famous "Practical manual for families" made by 790 different readers, one for each recipe.

Casa Artusi publishes on its Facebook page the telegram of 1911, with a narration curated by President Laila Tentoni on the background of this communication and the relationship between Artusi and his hometown, and on its YouTube channel ArtusiCento two tributes from Denio Derni and Veronica Gonzales to their most famous citizen.

The highlight of the day is at 8 p.m. with the live broadcast on Rai Radio3 of a double interview, the first live to Massimo Montanari, president of the Scientific Committee of Casa Artusi, one of the world's leading experts in the history of food, and the second "impossible" to Artusi himself, i.e. the historic interview written in 1974 by Guido Ceronetti and played by Mario Scaccia as part of the very successful series the RAI, between 1974 and 1975, dedicated to the most famous international celebrities.

P.S. for those who want to join the project Artusi aloud: it’s easy, just choose your favourite recipe from the 790 collected by Artusi and write to biblioteca@comune.forlimpopoli.fc.it or call + 39 (0) 543 749271.
