Belgium – “In search of Europe” by Alessandro Scillitani

The new film by the director from Reggio Emilia, realized with Piero Tassinari and Paolo Rumiz, opens 'Italia in doc' film festival. At the BOZAR in Brussels, on January 28th

Europe (the mythologic one) was born in the land of the Phoenicians, in the east. It was Jupiter, in love with her, who took her westward by sea, after having abducted her in the form of a bull.
So, historian and skipper Piero Tassinari - feeling the need to tell his students what Europe is-, leaves aboard of his old boat Moya together with documentary filmmaker and musician Alessandro Scillitani and writer and traveller Paolo Rumiz, and, under the suggestion of the myth, the boat Moya is symbolically turned into the bull that brings Europe.

The documentary In search of Europe by director from Reggio Emilia Alessandro Scillitani tells about the three men’s sailing trip across the Mediterranean Sea, in search of the of the heart of Europe, from Beirut to Istanbul, from Rhodes to Kos, from Mykonos to Syme and from Syros to Athens, walking the fine line between legends of yesterday and fears of today, looking for origins and signes of a civilization which seems to be disintegrating.

On January 28th, the documentary is premiered at the BOZAR in Brussels as opening of the 4th edition of Italia in doc - Italian documentary film festival, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels.

Paolo Rumiz and Alessandro Scillitani will attend.
