Teatro delle Albe in London
From October 28th to November 1st, Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari are at the Chickenshed Theatre in London to lead the international theatre workshop Classic Jests, Modern Vibes: Aristophanes at Chickenshed – a project born from the collaboration between Chickenshed, UCL University College London, Teatro delle Albe, and the Universities of Bristol and Parma.
Experienced in the recent ‘Public Calls’ dedicated to Dante Alighieri’s Comedy and to Don Quixote, open to citizens of all ages, the founders and artistic directors of Teatro delle Albe will work on Peace, a comedy by Aristophanes.
The workshop brings together a diverse group of people: young people from the north-east outskirts of London and students in Arts and Humanities from the Universities of Parma, Bristol, and UCL.
The forty participants will compare their differences in a fertile and creative short circuit to ‘bring to life’ (expression dear to Martinelli) Aristophanes’ work. In fact, the workshop will end with a performance open to the public on November 1st (6:30 pm).
Meanwhile, on October 30th (6:30 pm), Ermanna Montanari is guest of the Italian Cultural Institute in London for the presentation of her book L’abbaglio del tempo (La Nave di Teseo), with preface texts by Marco Belpoliti and Igort.
It is her second exploration of her native Campiano, twenty-eight new stories that increase and enrich the Miniature Campianesi of 2017 (Oblomov Edizioni). “A story – as Belpoliti defines it – truly unique in contemporary literature for its essentiality and harshness, for the charm that comes from the pages, once you start reading you never stop”.
The author will be in conversation with Professor Margherita Laera to explore the origins of her calling as an actress and share the creative process behind the characters she has brought to life throughout her career.
Marco Martinelli will also attend the event, and they together will introduce the theatre workshop underway at the Chickenshed – a project that the Italian Cultural Institute in London supports together with various important bodies and institutions.
