Malaysia – Hombre Collettivo theatre company at the George Town Festival
After the debut in Poland at the beginning of June, Hombre Colletivo theatre company is on tour again with the show Alle Armi: from July 26 to 28, they will be in George Town, the charming city on the island of Penang, whose historic centre is a UNESCO heritage site, where since 2010 the George Town Festival has taken place – a festival that has gradually established as one of the most significant arts events in Malaysia and South-East Asia.
This year the festival theme is 'Here & Now'. The programme presents shows that shine a spotlight on our present reality to investigate the interconnection between past, present and future in ‘a journey of reflection, reimagination, celebration and transformation’.
The festival highlights, in particular, five "must-see" shows, and among these Alle Armi by Hombre Collettivo, both for the topic it covers and for its innovative experimentation of the languages, techniques, and codes of puppet theatre.
Alle Armi is the second work born from the Parma based young group’s research (they are all under 35) on the intersection between object theatre and theatre of social issues, developed as an attempt to address fundamental and current historical and political issues in an alternative way.
It is a show without words, an ‘experiment’ in which, through images and through a precise and symbolic key –that of toys, the international arms market is tackled – an issue that has become dramatically current in these days.
Alle Armi is on stage on July 26, 27 and 28 (8:30 pm) at the Auditorium P. Ramlee in George Town.
The tour is made with the co-operation of the Italian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
