Croatia – “Respighi Suite” by the Orchestra del Baraccano

The concert within the 70th “Split Summer Festival”. In Split, on July 31.

After Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary, the Orchestra del Baraccano continues to tour Europe with the music by Ottorino Respighi. This year the Orchestra conducted by Giambattista Giocoli is guest of the 70th Split Summer Festival.

They will perform Antiche arie e danze (Ancient Airs and Dances) for lute which, in the Orchestra del Baraccano's version, are arranged for ensemble.
An original arrangement in which the eight real parts that make up the ensemble try to reproduce all the orchestral colours Respighi thought up, with the intention of creating a fascinating synthesis between ensuring the presence of instruments that were fundamental to Respighi, such as harp and harpsichord, and seeking a new and modern sound with the inclusion of accordion and tuba bass.

The concert takes place on July 31 (9 pm) in the beautiful cloister of the Split’s Museum of Fine Arts.

The tour is made with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb and the collaboration of ATER Fondazione.
