Artemis Danza on tour in Latin America
From October 26 to November 9 Artemis Danza is on tour in Latin America, a long tour that includes Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, and Chile.
The dance company will be on stage with Monica Casadei’s latest creation Puccini’s Opera. Voci di donne, a tribute to Giacomo Puccini on the centenary of his death and a new personal reading by the choreographer of the theme of the feminine through four fascinating heroines of the composer’s works. Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Mimì, and Turandot are at the centre of a process of choreographic, visual and musical reinterpretation: tragic love, thwarted and opposed love, cruel love that annihilates, the lust for possession that leads to destruction, all this live in the faces, the bodies, the gestures of the dancers and never cease to make us reflect on the relevance of stories which have moved audiences all over the world.
The show is on stage in Mexico City on October 27 at the Teatro de Las Artes of the CENART - Centro Nacional de las Artes, presented with the title: La ópera de Puccini. Voces de mujeres. Here the company will also lead a masterclass (October 26-27).
The next stage will be in Guatemala City on October 30, where the performance is presented at the Teatro Lux with the title Puccini en Danza. Voces de Mujeres. The theatre also hosts the masterclass “Las Almas de Artemis”.
On November 1st, it will be on stage in Colombia at the Teatro Jorge Eliecer Gaitán, a historic theatre in the heart of Bogotá, and on November 3rd in Venezuela at the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas. The theatre had already welcomed Artemis Danza last year with another re-interpretation by Monica Casadei of an opera heroine, Giuseppe Verdi’s Violetta. The masterclass will also take place in the two capitals.
The tour ends in Chile with a double date: Puccini en danza. Voces de Mujeres is on stage on November 6 at the Teatro Municipal in Chillán and on November 9 at the Parque Cultural in Valparaíso within the Festival Puerto de Ideas.
The tour is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Mexico City, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Guatemala City, the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogotá, the Italian Cultural Institute in Caracas, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago, and the Italian Ministry of Culture.
