Slovenia – Artemis Danza at the The Primorska Summer Festival
The Primorska Summer Festival is the main performing arts event of Slovenian Istria in the summer period, contributing to enrich the cultural and artistic offer of the coastal cities.
During its almost 30 years of activity, the festival has brought theatre and dance outside the classic theatre structures, transforming public spaces into stages. Its programming offers shows of various kinds, with Slovenian and foreign productions and paying attention to cross-border cooperation.
Artemis Danza company will be on stage with Traviata, one of Monica Casadei's choreographies that aim to translate the most famous operatic masterpieces into the language of dance, investigating their characters, key themes, archetypes.
Her Violetta is multiplied in many female characters, in many cross sections of her heart, told in different styles – from classical to contemporary ballet to butoh, and different colours, which also refer to Verdi's arias: Violetta in white, hope of pureness, Violetta in red, a bleeding heart, Violetta surrounded by a chauvinist society represented by a chorus in black.
The appointment with Traviata seen from Violetta's point of view is on July 6, 9pm, at the Koper Theatre.
The performance is co-organized and promoted by the Comunità degli Italiani 'Santorio Santorio' in Koper with the support of the City of Koper, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the Italian Cultural Institute in Ljubljana.
