Norway – Teatro Due Mondi at The Tall Ships Races Fredrikstad 2023
After stops in France, Germany and Poland, Teatro Due Mondi continues its long European summer tour in Norway.
During the tour, the works by the company from Faenza are presented in very different contexts, from renown international theatre festivals to small urban centres, and now they are staged in Norway in the frame of one of the greatest ship festivals in the world, The Tall Ships Races, which this year takes place in Fredrikstad.
«We have always presented our work in dozens of countries around the world, but we hadn't planned such a long and demanding international tour for some years» says Teatro Due Mondi’s artistic director and stage director Alberto Grilli. «We are happy and proud of this opportunity – the result of all we have sown and of the quality of our shows, that allows us to meet distant people and places».
The Tall Ships Races takes place from July 15 to 18 and includes a variety of events and cultural activities throughout the city. The rich programme offers two shows by Teatro Due Mondi, Fiesta and Rossini Flambé.
Fiesta, the cheerful and fancy roaming performance that involves the audience with drumbeats, three-meter-tall figures, papier-mâché faces, colourful costumes, little burlesque stories, songs and much more will be performed at various locations in the city at different times on July 15, 16 and 17.
Rossini Flambé, the funny and sparkling “culinary comic opera” about Italy and its flavours and sounds and about the passion for life and its pleasures will instead be staged at the Månen kulturhus & scene on July 18.
The shows are introduced in Fredrikstad in co-operation with the Norwegian theatre ensemble Studium Actoris.
Teatro Due Mondi’s European summer tour will continue in Germany in August. Fiesta will be staged again in Grasellenbach, and Rossini Flambé in Brilon, and the show Wall Cracks will be presented in Frankfurt at the Sommerwerft Festival and in Hilden at the Neanderland Biennale theatre festival.
