La Baracca - Teatro Testoni Ragazzi in Switzerland and Romania
The 32nd edition of the FIT - Festival Internazionale del Teatro e della Scena Contemporanea in Lugano takes place from September 29 to October 10: ten days of theatre, performances, new artistic languages, projects and activities with artists from six countries – France, Israel, Italy, Holland, Spain, Switzerland –, in a programme that, in this edition, chooses to follow three lines: word, hybrids, body.
La Baracca - Teatro Testoni Ragazzi participates in the Young & Kids section with Families, a show for children aged 2 to 5, that will be on stage on October 5 at the Teatro Foce.
Families is a non-verbal show that, through the use of a few significant objects and a simple game of mannequins and clothes, has the ability and the courage to show with simplicity and lightness how today the concept of family is diversified. A play dedicated to little boys and girls that aims to suggest reflections and stimulate questions, without intending to provide or influence the answers, and what emerges, in addressing such a delicate topic, is the primary importance of the concept of family based on emotional relationships, beyond the usual roles.
After Switzerland, the company will be in Romania, to participate in another festival: the FITC - International Theatre Festival for Children “100, 1,000, 1,000,000 Stories" in Bucharest, taking place from October 7 to 14.
The festival is organized by the Municipality of Bucharest and the Ion Creangă Theatre – an institution which has been involved in children theatre for more than 50 years, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Romania. For this 15th edition, the Ion Creangă Theatre artistic team has selected twelve theatres and companies from Italy, Finland, Spain, Belgium, and Romania. The programme includes workshops and other activities both for professionals and dedicated to children 6-12 years old.
La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi will open the festival on October 7 at the Ion Creangă Theater with Frames, a show for children aged 2 to 5.
Frames is a show made of few words, with a special focus on the movements, the feelings, and the expression of the two actresses telling the story. The set design is simple and essential and thanks to the presence of signs and drawings, it is constantly evolving, following the thread of the story.
Frames is a production born within MAPPING - A Map on the Aesthetics of Performing Arts for Early Years, a larger scale cooperation project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, of which Ion Creangă Theatre is also a partner.
It is an artistic research project focused on creating a sensory-based relationship with very young children, from 0 to 6 years, through performing arts. 18 partners from 17 European countries are involved: theatres, institutions, and artists who have established a deep relationship with early years over time, and who are willing to offer their specific know-how in developing this piece of research. The FITC programme will also propose activities related to the project, including a workshop for educators curated by La Baracca (October 7).
