Dutch premiere of "Moby Dick" by Teatro dei Venti at the ‘Deventer Op Stelten’ festival

Beside the performance, on stage from July 7 to 9, the documentary film which traces the genesis of the production is also presented.

A new international stage for Moby Dick by Teatro dei Venti: the show debuts in The Netherlands in Deventer, guest of the international outdoor-theatre festival ‘Deventer Op Stelten’ from July 7 to 9.

The event that for over twenty years has transformed the historic centre of the city into a giant open-air theatre is the ideal setting for Teatro dei Venti’s impressive theatrical machine that stages the story of Captain Ahab and his obsession with the White Whale.

Until now, the show-manifesto by the theatre company based in Modena has been set in ten countries – Lithuania, Germany, United Kingdom, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Moldova, as well as Italy –, always gathering the enthusiasm of the audience and the praise of the critics; with these dates in Holland, it will reach 33 performances.

Beside the show, the Festival also presents the documentary film by Raffaele Manco Moby Dick o Il Teatro dei Venti, which traces the genesis of the production (screening from July 5 to 9).

The audience may find out who invented and created the huge machinery of eight tons and thirteen meters high that moves on an open square among actors, musicians, acrobats, technicians and the public, and above all why the authors wanted to tackle such a complex work - and staging – as Melville’s masterpiece.
