Opera Streaming – "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini
The online programme of OperaStreaming is going on with the opera productions by and from the Historical Theatre of Emilia-Romagna, freely available on the platform channels.
On Sunday 11 April at 05:00 p.m. CET, the appointment is with Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini, a co-production between the Reggio Emilia Theatre Foundation and the Modena Municipal Theatre Foundation.
«This Barbiere di Siviglia is certainly a great amusement that I imagined as a clockwork gear, a machine in which everything that happens on stage follows the organized madness of Rossini's music. The space on the stage is, from time to time, built in moving tableaux. This component, in my opinion crazy, visionary, is already there in music; my effort was to translate it into a stage form».
These are the words by Fabio Cherstich, director of this new staging of "Il Barbiere” conducted by Leonardo Sini.
«It is an extremely fresh and brilliant music», says Sini, who invites the audience «to follow it with great lightness and let themselves be captivated by the music and the engaging theatricality of this opera» and hopes this could be some relief for the difficult situation we all are living.
The opera is staged at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia. Soprano Michela Antenucci in the role of Rosina and baritone Pablo Ruiz in the role of Bartolo are in the cast.
OperaStreaming is a project promoted by Emilia-Romagna Region, co-ordinated by Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena, and shared by the main opera production bodies of the region. The technical part is in charge of Edunova-University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
