"Radioamarcord – Fellini on air"
Fellini arrives in Rome in 1939, at a very young age. Shortly later, he began writing for the EIAR, the public Italian radio. Skits, sketches, radio dramas. Unfortunately, the original recordings did not survive; on the contrary, the scripts did, and may be consulted at the Federico Fellini Archive of the Cineteca Comunale di Rimini.
Although it has not been subject of specific studies, Fellini’s production for the radio is very precious: even before approaching the world of cinema, Fellini enjoyed playing with his surprising and inexhaustible creativity.
In the works for the radio, we can find the surreal and dreamlike atmosphere, the caricatural characters, the grotesque events that will mark the future director.
On the occasion of the centenary of Fellini’s birth, RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera realized five short radio dramas written by young Federico, titled Radioamarcord – Fellini in onda. They are directed by Sergio Ferrentino, from the original scripts.
