Week of Italian Cuisine in the World
Emilia-Romagna has always been a great protagonist of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World since the first edition of the event.
It is the birthplace of the ‘father’ of Italian cuisine, Pellegrino Artusi, and a land which boasts 44 DOP and IGP products, well-known and beloved in many Countries.
In the 4th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the best of Emilia-Romagna ‘Food Valley’ has been guest of the Embassy of Italy in Berlin in a two-day event attended, among others, by the President of Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonacini and the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Simona Caselli. On the programme, conferences, scientific seminars, cinema and cultural events, tastings and master classes (November 11th and 12th).
In particular, the opening ceremony of the Week of Italian Cuisine in Germany focused on two great ‘sons’ of Emilia-Romagna, also in view of the forthcoming anniversaries to be celebrated in 2020: Federico Fellini (centenary of the birth) and Pellegrino Artusi (bicentenary of the birth).
The conference From food to film: The incredible edible world of Federico Fellini explored the relation between cinema and food, both characterized by creativity, instinct, desire to experiment, to interpret, to discover.
Under the banner of the famous aphorism by Fellini “Life is a combination of magic and pasta”, President of Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonacini, Director of the Filmmuseum Potsdam Ursula Von Keitz, Director of Berlin Italian Film Festival Mauro Morucci, Director of Italian Tourism Board in Berlin Ottavia Ricci, and President of Casa Artusi Laila Tentoni, talked about it.
The panel discussion was accompanied by the screening of the videos Food in Federico Fellini’s drawings, Food in the cinema by Fellini, and the famous commercial Prove d’orchestra - Alta Società-Rigatoni Barilla.
Afterwards, the exhibition by Emilia-Romagna Region and Casa Artusi Pellegrino Artusi and the Italian Unity in the Kitchen was opened. The exhibit illustrates Artusi’s life and the up-to-dateness of his work.
And Fellini is once more protagonist in Los Angeles where the Italian Consulate General and the Italian Cultural Institute propose - amogs the noumerous events - the exhibit by Emilia-Romagna Region Food in Federico Fellini's Drawings (November 21 - February 15, 2020), 'suggestion' by the Maestro mostly from his Libro dei sogni (Book of Dreams), sort of oneiric diary of his life.
And just Artusi takes us halfway around the world for another important event ‘branded Emilia-Romagna’ of the 4th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World: the Japanese translation of Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well.
The renowned ‘manual’ -still the most read culinary book- had countless reissues and was translated into English, Spanish, Catalan, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, French, Polish, and now for the first time into Japanese by Heibonsha Limited Publisher.
The volume is presented in Tokyo, at the Italian Cultural Institute and at Chuo University, and in Kyoto, at Doshisha University, by Alberto Capatti, historian of Italian gastronomy and scientific director of Casa Artusi, Laila Tentoni, president of Casa Artusi, and Kudo Hiroko, professor of Public Policy and Public Management at the Faculty of Law at Chuo University, who led the translation project (November 19th, 20th, and 21st).
The travel with Artusi goes on in Africa: the Embassy of Italy in Yaunde (Camerun) and the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi (Kenya) present the publication by Emilia-Romagna Region and Casa Artusi Pellegrino Artusi and the Italian Unity in the Kitchen, enlarged for the occasion with some of the recipes from the ‘practical manual for the family’.
And Artusi’s heritage will be also in France, Switzerland, Brazil, Argentina, Philippines with conferences, meetings with chef, courses and masterclasses for adults and children, show-cookings and tasting curated by the 'Mariettas' and members of the scientific committee of Casa Artusi.
