The sixth tour in Japan by the Gruppo Ocarinistico Budriese (GOB)
Long tour in Japan by the Gruppo Ocarinistico Budriese: from August 24 to September 26, they are performing in twenty-three concerts throughout the country, in theatres usually dedicated to classical music and all with a capacity of more than a thousand seats.
The Emilian group – better known internationally as GOB but traditionally known in Italy also as 'le Ocarine di Budrio' – has already made five tours in Japan in the last ten years, a fact that is testimony to the originality and musical quality the ensemble has achieved in the last twenty years of activity. The unique sound of the Ocarina Septet offers a plurality of voices following each other in complex harmonies and orchestral effects that has enchanted audiences not only in Japan but in countries all over the world.
The ocarina was invented in 1853 by Giuseppe Donati in Budrio, a town in the Metropolitan City of Bologna. After having made five ocarinas of different sizes, Donati formed a first group in 1863, which became a septet in 1870. They have performed with great success throughout Europe for years, proposing original music and arrangements of arias from famous operas.
The GOB has inherited the musical tradition of the ocarina groups present in Budrio over time, with attentiveness also to the creation of a new repertoire. Operating for many years, the ensemble has performed in more than a thousand concerts in Italy and abroad and has recorded numerous albums.
This important tour was celebrated the day before departure with a free concert in the Bentivoglio Castle (Bologna) within the XXIVII Chamber Music Festival, attended also by the Minister for Culture of the Emilia-Romagna Region and a representative of the Japanese Consulate, which patronized the event.
The tour is made with the co-operation by Min-On Global Music Network.
