Germany – "Don Juan" by Aterballetto

On March 8, the dance company on stage in Ludwigshafen with the new choreography by Johan Inger

The European tour of Don Juan – the new choreography by Johan Inger created for Aterballetto, Danza&Danza Award “Best Production” 2020 – is re-starting.

On March 8, Don Juan is on stage in Ludwigshafen at the Theater Im Pfalzbau (07:30 pm).

The performance is born from Johan Inger's desire to "face" Don Juan/Don Giovanni, an ancient and still contemporary, truly paradigmatic myth. Together with his dramaturg Gregor Acuña-Pohl, the Swedish choreographer has approached the character of Don Juan consulting many texts inspired by him – from Tirso de Molina to Molière and Brecht, from Byron to Dumas, from Handke to Pushkin, from Fellini to Bergman.

Inger does not draw Don Juan just as a womanizer and serial seducer but presents him in all his complexity and humanity in an intensive choreography and exciting narrative moments to which the sixteen dancers on stage give a breath-taking expressiveness. The original composition especially created by Marc Álvarez leads through the narrative as a leitmotif and reinforces its sensuality and emotionality, which are finally exhausted to the limit of pain - a pain that cannot be avoided.

The tour of Don Juan will continue in France, at the Opéra de Massy on March 31 and April 1st.
