Spain – Aterballetto opens the dFERIA Festival
Aterballetto opens the 30th edition of the Basque festival dFERIA, prestigious festival dedicated to the performing arts and one of the major national reference points for the theatre and dance market.
On March 10, at the 'Victoria Eugenia' Theatre in San Sebastián, Aterballetto performs a programme of three choreographies in which the whole company of sixteen dancers is involved.
The evening starts with Yeled by Eyal Dadon, that brings to the stage the reflection that the Israeli choreographer, along with the dancers of Aterballetto, has explored on the moment in life when one loses the innocence of childhood. The title of the creation, in fact, is a Hebrew word for ‘child’.
To follow, Shoot Me by Diego Tortelli, a frontal work which aims to establish a direct exchange between the dancers on stage and the audience in the stalls: a game of seduction, glances, sweat, an assault on the senses, and an ode to the body, breathing the same air, sweat, tears, fury, pride.
The evening closes with Rhapsody in Blue, the new creation by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich. "Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue has several appealing aspects for us” – say the choreographers –, it is a beautiful piece of music, well-known but not widely listened to by the younger generations. (...) This work can be a way to provide a less distant and less 'American' vision of Gershwin, going beyond the cultural context in which the rhapsody was created. The rhapsody will inevitably dictate the choreographic work. The lively, sparkling changes with which to play are fantastic."
Aterballetto’s performance is presented by the festival in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid.
