"Italian Excellences" for the third time in South-West China

The exhibition of Italian children’s illustrators opens in Chongqing and will run until end of March

On last January 17, the Vice Consul of Italy in Chongqing Adriana Lori attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition Italian Excellence. The New Generation of Italian Children’s Illustrators at the famous Italian luxury outlet Florentia Village in Chongqing.

The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, foreign Consulates in Chongqing, and companies in the cultural, media, and retail sectors.

It is the first Italian cultural event organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing this year, on the back of the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism initiatives, held in 2022.

The exhibition presents twenty young Italian artists –aged between 23 and 35– chosen for the quality of their drawing, the originality of their content, and their ability to make texts interact with images in a personal and unique way. The works on display are created with manual, digital or mixed techniques, and the exhibition is a testimony not only to the vitality of this sector in Italy but also to the originality and creativity of our Country.

The project on the Italian panorama of children’s illustration has reached its third edition, after a first exhibition dedicated to internationally renowned illustrators, and a second one dedicated to Gianni Rodari on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.

Produced by Bologna Children's Book Fair, Emilia-Romagna Region and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and curated by Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani/Accademia Drosselmeier, Eccellenze Italiane is organized in Chongqing by the Consulate General of Italy together with Florentia Village.

The stage in Chongqing is the third in south-west China, after those in the Tianfu New Area of Chengdu City and in Dujiangyan City, both organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing in collaboration with the city of Chengdu’s local authorities as part of the 'Chengdu-Europe Culture Season 2021'.

In the last two years, the exhibition has been on display in China also in Beijing, Haikou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Wuxi, Tianjin, and Hong Kong, enjoying great success with the public, especially the younger one.

Italian Excellence. The New Generation of Italian Children’s Illustrators will run in Chongqing until March 30.
