Romania – Alessandro Carboni at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival
The 29th edition of FITS – the prestigious international theatre festival promoted by the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu, is takin place from June 24 to July 3.
As usual, the Festival "celebrates all the arts" with a program rich of proposals ranging from theatre to dance, from circus to street shows, from music to opera, to musicals, as well as conferences, books, exhibitions, a performing arts market, and much more. “Beauty” is the theme of the 2022 edition.
Alessandro Carboni is guest of the Festival with his new work Context / Solo, with which the performer and visual artist continues his interdisciplinary research around the complex network of relations and permutations between space and its constituent elements – places, people, relationships.
Context investigates the idea of context as the set of circumstances that define an event. It is a reflection on the relationship between the elements that constitute it and the conditions that generated it.
The starting point is the geometric figure of the triangle, intended as the primary unit of the subdivision of space. Triangular units form a network that becomes a narrative, aesthetic, and performative model that invites the contemplation of seriality, rhythm, incompleteness.
Visual conception, choreography, lights, and scene are by Alessandro Carboni, while Sara Capanna is the performer on stage.
The performance is produced by Formati Sensibili in co-production with international partners in the framework of BeSpectACTive – a large-scale European cooperation project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union aimed at artistic productions and participatory practices. It was created between 2019 and 2021 in three artistic residences at the Bakelit Multi Art Center in Budapest, the Domino in Zagreb, the Divadelna in Nitra, and with the support from TIR Danza. The Emilia-Romagna residence centre L’arboreto - Teatro Dimora / La Corte Ospitale also gave its support.
Contex is scheduled on June 29, at 05:00 pm, at the GONG Theatre in Sibiu.
