The Toscanini Next flies to Brazil
The Toscanini Next Orchestra crosses the national borders for a three-concert tour in three significant and prestigious locations in São Paulo, the largest and most populous city in Brazil and financial centre of the Country.
The occasion is the presentation of a project by Opem SpA – based in Parma company and sponsor of the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini –, and in particular of the Amazonas Project by Opem Brasil.
Toscanini Next is an innovative orchestral project of the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini, created in collaboration and with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region cultural network. It is composed by under 35 musicians selected from emerging talents, with evident soloist and multi-instrumental qualities – a ‘community orchestra’ who, in three years of activity, has brought music to the squares, to places of culture and memory, to the outskirts of the cities, giving the audience a new awareness of the musical experience.
Opem Brasil, together with Chiesi Farmaceutici Brasil, has promoted a meeting between Toscanini Next and Santa Marcelina, a non-profit organization that deals with the social education of thousands of young people from the metropolis suburbs through musical practice – a perfect collaboration for the Toscanini’s community activity.
In giving thanks to the Companies involved, Superintendent Alberto Triola underlines: "Toscanini Next in Brazil is an excellent news and a valuable opportunity. The name of Toscanini is historically linked to the great South American country, considering his debut on the podium in Rio de Janeiro. The Next’s young musicians become messengers of a community vision of making music that has a particularly relevant meaning in the Brazilian metropolis. These concerts are rightly part of the community music project in which Toscanini is investing a lot of energy".
Toscanini Next Orchestra will perform on June 8 at the Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo, on June 9 at the Teatro do Céu Jambeiro, in collaboration with Santa Marcelina cultural association, and on June 10 at the Auditório Miro Noschese, in collaboration with the Colégio Dante Alighieri in São Paulo.
On the program, music by Giuseppe Verdi, Nicola Piovani, Ryūichi Sakamoto, Nino Rota, Luis Bacalov and a tribute to the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa Lobos with the Suite populaire brésilienne.
The concerts are supported by the Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo and the Italy-Brazil Chamber of Commerce.
