France – Emilia-Romagna and its cinema at the Festival de Villerupt
Emilia-Romagna homeland of great directors and filmmakers, land which has inspired great directors and filmmakers, homeland of new authors, region which makes cinema. Emilia-Romagna is the main theme of the 41st edition of the Festival du Film Italien de Villerupt, that proposes a large selection dedicated to its past and present cinema.
It ranges from Michelangelo Antonioni to Gianni Zanasi via Pupi Avati and Luciano Ligabue and several new authors and productions. Amongst them, seven titles received the support by the Emilia-Romagna audio-visual fund.
The section “Carte blanche”, curated by the film critic Gianni Canova, is a tribute to Federico Fellini who is also celebrated with an exhibition curated by the Cineteca di Bologna - which also attends the Festival with two restored films, I Compagni (The Organizer), by Mario Monicelli and Sacco and Vanzetti by Giuliano Montaldo.
Another exhibit, Émilie-Romagne, terre de cinéma, curated by the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena, shows through the photos by yesterday and today major still photographers, the multitude of sets and multiplicity of genres of the films shot in the region, starting from 1943 with Obsession by Luchino Visconti, realized between the river Po banks and Ferrara, and ending in 2018 with Ci vuole un fisico by Alessandro Tamburini, a comedy shot among the streets and buildings of Modena by night.
A third exhibition, Lieux d'art et de l'art - L'Émilie-Romagne se photographie, curated by FIAF (Italian Federation of Photo Associations) presents 24 known and less known locations charmingly photographed by as many photographers.
The Emilia-Romagna Film Commission is also in Villerupt: it will attend Ça tourne en régions!, a professional meeting moderated by Thierry Méranger, critic of the Cahiers du cinéma.
