Teatrino Giullare awarded in China
One more important international recognition for Teatrino Giullare company. From November 1st to 5th Giulia Dall'Ongaro and Enrico Deotti were guest of the 8th International Theatre Award in Tsingtao with the performance Menelaus, awarded with the Excellent Play Award 2019.
The performance, based on the text by Italian playwright Davide Carnevali, is a contemporary and ironic reinterpretation of the myth of the Atrides.
Menelaus has everything but not happiness. He perceives something is going wrong in his apparently comfortable life but he is not able to do something to change the situation.
Menelaus is 'a contemporary tragedy’, in which «Greek mythology is skillfully interlaced with actuality and nowadays word to probe the never-ending mechanism of desire» (from the Motivation of the Jury’s ‘Special Mention’ of the Premio Platea in 2016).
During the tour in China, Teatrino Giullare was also guest of the Italian Culturral Institute of Beijing, where the company presented the lecture-performance More human than humans in the frame of the 19th Week of the Italian Language in the World.
