United States – Premiere of the exhibition on Fellini’s "8 ½"

In Los Angeles until February 28, 2021, new setting of the exhibit promoted by Centro Cinema Cesena and Emilia-Romagna Region on the occasion of the great director’s anniversary

The successful tour of the exhibition promoted by Centro Cinema Città di Cesena and Emilia-Romagna Region on the occasion of the centenary of Federico Fellini’s birth is going on.

The exhibit is now presented for the first time in North America by the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles with the title Fellini in Action: 8 ½ Set Photography by Paul Ronald.

Curated by Antonio Maraldi, responsible for the Centro Cinema Cesena, the exhibition features photographs taken by the official set photographer of the film that have remained unpublished for decades. As Maraldi tells, Paul Ronald, -to whom he was bound by old friendship-, had 'almost forgotten' them among his things in the attic.

This precious exhibition came out from the 2,200 negatives and 250 color slides found by Maraldi. We can relive the atmosphere on the set, see the moments of work and pause, discover faces and colours, and also scenes deleted during editing.

The exhibition by Centro Cinema Città di Cesena and Emilia-Romagna Region, which is part of the official programme of the Italian National Committee for the Celebration, has already been presented, with different titles and formats, in more than 20 international venues.

The display in Los Angeles consists of forty images divided into five sections: Federico Fellini, Marcello Mastroianni, Federico & Marcello, The Set, Color Photography.

The pre-opening of Fellini in Action has been on December 7 with a webinar presentation by Antonio Maraldi.

The exhibition is set in the Gallery of the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and will run until February 28, 2021.
At present, only a virtual visit is possible, and the Institute has prepared a stimulating guided tour (available on its YouTube channel).
