Spain – La Baracca-Testoni Ragazzi at FETEN 2022 festival
La Baracca - Teatro Testoni Ragazzi theatre company is guest of the FETEN - Feria Europea de artes escénicas para niños y niñas of Gijón and stages the award-winning show Upside down, for the first time on the Festival program.
Una Storia Sottosopra/Upside down is one of the shows of "Wide Eyes", the core of a co-production project developed within the ‘Small size - Performing Arts for Early years' project (2014-2018) co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
‘Wide Eyes’ are the eyes of children, wide open to the world: starting from this image, the 17 partners of Small size had a common production path from which 15 different productions were born, this one included.
Upside down talks about friendship and sharing in a simple and poetic way, a simplicity built to perfection, behind which there is a complex work. The story unfolds through a series of gestures enhanced by music, noises and drawings which, despite their simplicity, succeed in their intent to capture the little spectators (and even adults are fascinated by it).
These "ingredients" have earned the show important awards: Grand Prix at the Summer Puppet Pier Festival in Maribor, Slovenia and the "25 Golden Stars" of Children's Jury (2017); Jury Prize at the "100, 1,000, 1,000,000 Stories" festival in Bucharest «for expressing strong emotions with very simple means» (2017); Jury Prize at the "Spectaculo Interesse Festival" in Ostrava «for broadening the viewers' imaginative horizons» (2019).
Upside down is on stage on February 16, scheduled at 04:30 p.m. and at 06:15 p.m. (in the Colegiata San Juan Bautista).
