Teatro Due Mondi on tour in Germany
The theatre company Teatro Due Mondi based in Faenza has always been committed to promoting dialogue and inclusion through creative and artistic experience, and privileges street theatre and open workshops as a means to bring people closer together, to promote mutual understanding and solidarity among the participants, to create bridges, and to help overcome walls.
The many 'walls’ and their overcoming was the central theme of a project Teatro Due Mondi shared with six street theatre companies from five European Countries – Mauerspringer (walls jumpers) – from which the performance Wall Cracks was born. The show has been selected among the projects of the "Interkulturelle Woche" (Intercultural Week), a national event taking place throughout Germany every year between September and October.
Wall Cracks will be staged in Freiburg (September 24), in Schwetzingen (September 25), in Schwerte (September 26), and in Hoyerswerda (October 1st).
In the days before the performance in Hoyerswerda, a workshop will also take place. People of all ages, origins and languages, even without theatre experience are welcome. The participants will deal with the subject of walls in a playful way and with the question of how they can be overcome; at the end, some of them will be on stage together with the actors of Teatro Due Mondi.
Wall Cracks talks about walls and barriers, walls that can be state borders, but also social or financial barriers, interpersonal walls consisting of prejudice, or individual walls of fear and mistrust. But the definitive message is clear: ignorance creates walls, knowledge creates breaches that make them break down.
Teatro Due Mondi’s activities are supported by Emilia-Romagna Region and the tour in Germany has the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC).
