Dominican Republic – “En la mesa con Fellini, recordando a Artusi”
The exhibit At Table with Fellini, remembering Artusi celebrates the double anniversary in the year 2020 of two distinguished persons from Romagna: Federico Fellini (centenary of the birth) and Pellegrino Artusi (bicentenary of the birth) joining them in the savoury pair ‘cinema and food’.
Realized with images from the Centro Cinema di Cesena precious archives, the exhibition proposes film stills of the Maestro’s movies representing culinary and convivial scenes.
The images show extras and protagonists gathered around sumptuously laid tables (weddings, parties, as in Roma or La strada) or around simple family tables (as in Amarcord or in 8 ½). And more, backstage photos of the crew members taking a break for food (for example on the set of La dolce vita) and of famous TV commercials directed by Fellini.
The exhibition, curated by Antonio Maraldi, is enriched with the screening of the commercial Alta società - Rigatoni, realized for Barilla in 1985, with the original film shot and Fellini’s voice-over.
The exhibit is part of the official programme of the Italian National Committee for the Celebration of the Centenary of Fellini's birth - ‘Fellini 100’.
It is promoted by Centro Cinema Città di Cesena and the Office for cultural activities abroad of Emilia-Romagna Region, in co-operation with the Embassy of Italy in Santo Domingo and the centro de Convenciones y Cultura Dominicana UTESA (CCCD-UTESA) which present it in Santiago de los Caballeros, from March 12th to May 21st, within Italia y República Dominicana: construjendo puentes vivos entre historia y futuro, a cultural project aiming at diffusing the bonds the two Countries have been joining throughout history.
