Aterballetto and “An Ideal City”

On December 18, online round table to start the international project shared by Les Halles de Schaerbeek Brussels and Greek National Opera Athens

On December 18, starting of An Ideal City - Public art and dance: the dialectical process between micro and macro, international project coordinated by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto – Reggio Emilia in partnership with Les Halles de Schaerbeek – Brussels, and the Greek National Opera Ballet – Athens, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

“An Ideal City” aims at exploring the value of dance as a form of inhabiting, through an investigation of the ideal practices to connect dance to urban spaces –as the subtitle states.

A program of performances, debates, and meetings will take place in Athens, Reggio Emilia, and Brussels, and short choreographic creations in different places of the cities –the MicroDances, signed by some of the most relevant contemporary choreographers– will define unusual stages but linked to a direct and immediate relationship with the public and the inhabitants.

On December 18, the project is introduced by Gigi Cristoforetti, Managing Director of Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto, Christophe Galent, Director of Les Halles de Schaerbeek, and Konstantinos Rigos, Director of the Greek National Opera Ballet.
Art historians, sociologists and public art experts from Italy and abroad will discuss the topics of the project, and moreover, a preview of some MicroDances will be shown: the ones by Angelin Preljocaj, Fernando Melo, and Damiano Artale.

The online round table is on Zoom platform on Friday, 18 December from 10:30 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. (CET) (Italian-English translation).
