Instabili Vaganti in the USA with the Beyond Borders project and the show “Lockdown Memory”
Instabili Vaganti theatre company brings the interdisciplinary project Beyond Borders to the United States, with stages in Washington and in New York.
On May 4-7, Anna Dora Dorno and Nicola Pianzola are among the guests of “The Gathering”, the signature event part of the CrossCurrets Festival at the Georgetown University in Washington DC – an appointment that since 2012 has been standing out for its pioneering interdisciplinary approach integrating the performing arts and international politics and critical global issue.
Here the Company will develop a new stage of the Beyond Borders project, participating in meetings, workshops, and intercultural exchanges and, above all, presenting their performance Lockdown Memory to an audience of artists and professionals from all over the world (on May 7, h 11:45, at Gonda Theatre).
The multimedia performance tells the innovative work process that led to the creation of the project and expresses a profound reflection on the role of artists and that of theatre as a 'window onto the world' in a historical moment such as that of the pandemic and the consequent closure of the live performing arts spaces.
After the experience in Washington, Instabili Vaganti move to New York, where they are guests at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club.
From May 10 to 15, the Company is engaged in Boundaries of Freedom – an artistic and co-creative residency including research activities and shared work with US artists.
The workshop sessions will focus on theatre as a means of expressing the performer's creative freedom and his ability to intervene on the political and social reality surrounding him, both on a local and a global level.
On May 15, at the end of the activities, the work done together will be presented in a final performance and, lastly, Instabili Vaganti will stage their show Lockdown Memory.
The American stages of the Beyond Borders project have the support of the 'Boarding Pass Plus' call from the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC), the Italian Cultural Institutes in Washington and New York, and ATER Fondazione.
