Turkey - “Federico Fellini’s '8 ½' in the unpublished photographs by Paul Ronald”

From September 10 to October 10, for the first time in Istanbul, the images of the legendary Oscar-winning film

The celebrations of the centenary of Federico Fellini’s birth are going on all over the world and it is going on also the success of the exhibition by the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena and Emilia-Romagna Region curated by Antonio Maraldi Federico Fellini’s ‘8 ½’ in the unpublished photographs by Paul Ronald, which is part of the official programme of the Italian National Committee for the Celebration.

After its 'premiere' at the MAM - Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro in January, the exhibit has already been proposed with different titles and formats in more than ten European and overseas Countries, often being part of the events organized by important international film festivals as a tribute to the unforgettable and beloved director.

Paul Ronald was the official still photographer of 8 ½ (Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Costume Design in 1964), he followed the film making from the first day to the last (May 8 - October 14, 1962).
His wonderful shots show Fellini and Mastroianni at work or in pause, the actresses engaged in the film, the crew, the guests visiting the film set, the extras, and are a precious evidence of the atmosphere on the set, of its colours (the film was shot in black and white), of intimate, unusual or funny moments, of the scenes deleted during editing.

Paul Ronald’s unpublished photographs arrive now for the first time in Turkey, in an exhibit of 53 hight definition and large format images set in the hearth of Istanbul, at the Taksim Sanat – a very popular venue offering cultural activities throughout the year near the central subway station Taksim.

The exhibit, opened from September 10 to October 10, has been organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy in Istanbul.

In September, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Metropolitan Municipality keep on celebrating Fellini with the screening of six movies by the Maestro, from September 14 to 19, free entrance, outdoor in Maçka Habitat Park: 8 ½, La Dolce Vita, I Clowns, I Vitelloni, Giulietta degli spiriti, La città delle donne, all in Italian language with Turkish subtitles.

The exhibition Paul Ronald’ın Yayımlanmamış Fotoğraflarında Federico Fellini’nin 8 ½’u  is also advertised with a video made by Kültür AŞ-Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality looped on all the Municipality circuits, including public transport and TV, and shared on the partners’ social channels.
