Italia Danza – Aterballetto in London for International Dance Day
Italia Danza is a project by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and CCN/Aterballetto. Carried out through the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, it is developed in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institutes and with the support of Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
A cosmopolitan project, entrusted to the universal language of the body and performed by Aterballetto thanks to its rich repertoire of site-specific creations, designed to inhabit palaces, monumental or urban spaces, and symbolic cultural sites.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in London, Italia Danza arrives in the UK capital on occasion of International Dance Day, April 29.
As part of the Performance Festival 2025 at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Aterballetto performs Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, a dance and live music performance conceived in 2024 to enhance Italian cultural heritage – a project co-designed with the Directorate General for Museums and the support of the Directorate General for Live Performance of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
Set against the backdrop of the Raphael Gallery of the V&A Museum, the story of love and death narrated by Torquato Tasso in Gerusalemme Liberata (1575) and set to music by Claudio Monteverdi (1624) will come to life.
The performance, created by director Fabio Cherstich and choreographer Philippe Kratz, features dancers Gador Lago Benito and Alberto Terribile, tenor Matteo Straffi, and harpsichordist Deniel Perer.
