Chiara Guidi in Portugal
After representing Italy at the 32nd edition of the international theatre festival Teatro a Mil in Santiago in Chile in January, the new international stage for Chiara Guidi is in Portugal, at the Teatro Aveirense in Aveiro.
Playwright, director and theatre actress, an artist internationally recognized for her innovative approach to scenic art, Chiara Guidi is welcomed by the Aveirense Theatre as «one of the leading figures in European theatre».
She will stage The Land of Earthworms, a tragedy for children inspired by Euripides’ Alcestis born from her extraordinary theatrical imagination.
The show is created through a laboratory with Chiara Guidi on the 'Errant Method' – an ‘open’ theatre form which needs children to compose and complete itself. Led by the figures of the narrative, the children enter the performance space and determine the progress of the story through their decisions and interventions.
The show takes children on a journey that descends into the bowels of the earth and then back up, like the Greek heroine and like the tireless action of earthworms which go down and up in an inextinguishable movement that enlightens tragedy with hope.
Three performances of The Land of Earthworms are scheduled at the Teatro Aveirense: on February 7 at 3 pm, on February 8 at 5 pm and at 7 pm.
