Aterballetto on tour in France and Spain
A new international tour for Aterballetto: from March 18 to April 5, the company will dance in seven cities in France and Spain.
Aterballetto presents a triple bill signed by highly renowned choreographers, three choreographies that range from the evocative poetry of Solo Echo by Crystal Pite, to the expressive power of Rhapsody in blue by Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich, up to the innovative charge of Glory Hall by Diego Tortelli.
All creations that highlight the variety of aesthetics and styles of Aterballetto’s repertoire, as well as the technical and expressive qualities of the dancers, composing a show of great visual and musical intensity.
Solo Echo by the award-winning Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite is inspired by two cello and piano sonatas by Johannes Brahms and the poem Lines for Winter by Mark Strand. As in Strand’s poem, the piece evokes winter, music, and the moving body to express something essential about acceptance and loss.
Rhapsody in blue by Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich is a homage to Gershwin's famous composition that merges dynamic energy and technical virtuosity in an explosion of movement. The rhapsody itself dictated the choreographic work, the lively changes, the electric modulations with which the choreographers "played".
Glory Hall by Diego Tortelli is an intense and provocative work that explores the concept of identity and perception through a bold and contemporary choreographic language. A fresco of sensuality and overwhelming vitality, a true hymn to the ecstasy of the body, a continuous tension between delicacy and bold strength, among rock sounds and symphonic melodies.
The tour of the show starts in France. On March 18, it is on stage in Compiègne (Espace Jean Legendre, 8:30 pm), on March 20 in Maubeuge (La Luna - La Manège, 8 pm), on March 25 in Cholet (Théâtre Saint-Louis, 8:30 pm).
A stage in Spain will follow, in Bilbao, on March 28 and 29 (Teatro Arriaga Antzokia, 7:30 pm and 7 pm), made in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid and the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The tour continues again in France at the beginning of April. In Mérignac on April 1st (Le Pin Galant, 8:30 pm), in Nantes on April 3rd (Théâtre de La Fleuriaye, 8:45 pm), in Fouesnant-les-Glénan on April 5 (L’Archipel, 8:30 pm).
Aterballetto will be back in Spain at the end of April. The company will be in Pamplona performing this triple bill and in Seville and Oviedo presenting Notte Morricone by Marcos Morau, the show that won the Danza&Danza 2024 award in the category: Best Italian Production - Grand Scale”.
