Accademia Bizantina at the Ópera de Tenerife
In Maestro Ottavio Dantone’s opinion, Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto is «an opera that everyone should know for its perfect synthesis of history and myth and of music and theatre».
Thanks to Accademia Bizantina, now Handel’s most renowned opera arrives at the Ópera de Tenerife, in a semi-staged production directed by Bruno Berger-Gorski, with set designs by Carlos Santos.
There will be one single performance on February 12 (7:30 pm), at the historic Teatro Guimerá in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In Italy, a new production of Giulio Cesare with direction by Chiara Muti and Ottavio Dantone conducting Accademia Bizantina was produced by the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, in co-production with the theatres of Modena, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Lucca and Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano e Trento. It opened the 2025 Opera Season of the Teatro Alighieri on last January 17 and the tour in the co-producer theatres is continuing with great success.
The Ravenna premiere also opened the new season of OperaStraming, the portal of Emilia-Romagna opera houses. Live streamed on January 17, it is available on the platform YouTube channel until July 17, 2025.
