Tunisia – Artemis Danza at 'IN SITU – TUNISI' Festival of Italian Creativity
The Embassy of Italy in Tunis is one of the three winners of the second edition of the 'Capitals of Italian Creativity in the World' (Festival of Italian Creativity) competition – an initiative launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – with the project 'IN SITU – TUNISI'.
Organized by the Embassy in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis and in synergy with a group of Italian and Tunisian institutions and with Italian artists and companies, 'IN SITU – TUNISI' is a programme of cultural activities and events that, for ten days, from June 26 to July 6, will liven up the cultural life of Tunis and some of the city's most emblematic and important public spaces and places.
Artemis Danza company takes part with To Be Creative - Humanity in Progress, a series of contemporary dance performances dedicated to melodramma, now more than ever a hallmark of Italian creativity in the world thanks to the designation of Italian opera singing as a UNESCO intangible heritage.
Accompanying Monica Casadei's choreographies – created specifically for the charming scenery of the former Holy Cross Presbytery in the Medina of Tunis – are excerpts from operas such as La traviata, The Barber of Seville, Madama Butterfly and Turandot, and musical elaborations with a contemporary slant composed by Fabio Fiandrini and Luca Vianini.
To Be Creative - Humanity in Progress runs from June 28 to 30 and will offer the audience a new way of enjoying both the choreographic work and the space that hosts it. Two performances are scheduled per day, at different times.
Artemis Danza’s tour in Tunisia is made with the support of Emilia-Romagna Region and ATER Fondazione.
