The Netherlands – "Agrippina e il viaggio di Händel in Italia"
On the occasion of Accademia Bizantina’s tour in the Netherlands and the debut at the Amsterdam Opera House of G.F. Händel’s Agrippina, conducted by Ottavio Dantone, directed by Barrie Kosky and performed by Accademia Bizantina, the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam has organized a special event taking place on January 22, at 7 pm, at the Institute: “Agrippina” e il viaggio di Händel in Italia ('Agrippina' and Händel’s travel to Italy).
Two extraordinary guests will take part: Accademia Bizantina’s artistic director Ottavio Dantone, and concertmaster and first violin Alessandro Tampieri.
The premiere of Agrippina was on January 13 and the opera is scheduled until the 28th. The first reviews were very positive, as they talk about “elegant, sometimes mesmerising sound patterns”, defining “a feast in itself” the way Händel's score was brought to sound by the nearly thirty members of Accademia Bizantina.
On the special evening of January 22 at the Italian Cultural Institute, Maestro Ottavio Dantone and Maestro Alessandro Tampieri will entertain the participants with stories, interspersed with some musical pieces, about this extraordinary opera.
The event is organized in co-operation with ATER Fondazione.
