Teatro Due Mondi in Poland and Germany
Teatro Due Mondi’s long summer tour is going on. With the shows Fiesta and Wall Craks, the company is taking -and has taken- its ‘cultured’ and ‘popular’ theatre in the squares and streets of many cities around Europe.
Two shows different in style and language, designed to reach different audiences. The stilts, masks, coloured costumes, and Italian popular songs of Fiesta arouse curiosity and wonder, fascinating audiences of all ages. Wall Craks, that addresses important issues of contemporary society – the many walls that divide us –, carries an ethical message able to involve the public beyond cultural differences.
Teatro Due Mondi presents them both in Żary, Poland, at the 33rd ‘Miedzynarodowe Plenerowe Spotkania ze Sztuka’, the international street theatre festival organised by Żarski Dom Kultury (August 5 -11). The programme offers performances, concerts, meetings with artists, workshops, and many activities for children and adults. Fiesta is on stage on August 7, Wall Cracks the following day, on August 8.
The tour continues in Germany, in Erfurt, where Fiesta is guest of the Lichterfest Ega Park, and two performances are schedule on August 9 and 10.
It is the fifteenth stage of this long international tour by Teatro Due Mondi, which started on last May 11 and took place between Germany, Hungary, and Poland, in important international theatre festivals and street theatre festivals in large cities and small towns.
Teatro Due Mondi will be back in Germany in September, crowing the long tour with a ‘grand finale’: the German-language staging of the show The New Adventures of the Bremen Town Musicians (Die neuen Abenteuer der Bremer Stadtmusikanten) in Cologne on September 13, presented by the Italian Cultural Institute.
In Teatro Due Mondi’s version, the well-known fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm is updated to the present day to talk about solidarity, inclusion, being together – important themes of great social value that have always been central in the company's work.
