Switzerland – "Frankenstein (a love story)" by Motus
Motus’s Frankenstein arrives in Geneva, his ‘hometown’, the city where Mary Shelly created him in 1816.
Motus rereads the English writer's masterpiece by exploring its many stratifications: the atmospheres, the characters, the author herself, the imagery, the interpretations are crossed with themes and suggestions that belong to our present.
From Mary Shelley's "monstrous progeny" to contemporary ramifications in posthuman philosophy: the pages of the novel are mixed with pages inspired by feminist philosophers and writers in the text written by the scholar Ilenia Caleo combining extracts, episodes, and monologues from the different sources.
On stage, the three figures of MS, Victor, and the creature, symbiotically intertwine exploring the landscape on the border between what is "normal" and what is not considered so. At the centre, the nameless creature’s questions, his perception of the world of the Others, his great desire to be part of.
Frankenstein (a love story) is on stage at Le Grütli from April 25 to 28 (different times).
On the occasion of the performance, Le Grütli has also organized a theatre workshop for children with Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande: I’m alive, a ‘practical’ meeting to investigate monsters and diversity (April 27).
