Serbia – Dewey Dell at the Belgrade Dance Festival and at the National Theatre in Subotica
Dewey Dell is guest of the 21st Belgrade Dance Festival, where the company will perform Le Sacre du Printemps, the new show winner of the Danza&Danza Award 2023 as “Best Italian Production”.
In this creation, Dewey Dell interprets Stravinsky’s masterpiece in a very personal and searing way, taking inspiration from the animal and plant kingdom. Here, spring –a period of regeneration of the fertility of the soil, is also a period of struggle for survival, “a chaotic disruption of all the elements together”, as well as a symbol of the cyclical nature of life.
The performance is on stage at the Duško Radovic Theatre in Belgrade on March 25 and 26 (8 pm).
Le Sacre du Printemps is one of the Italian shows presented at the Festival by the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade.
Dewey Dell is the second dance company from Emilia-Romagna to take part by virtue of a three-year agreement between the Belgrade Dance Festival and ATER Fondazione/ Emilia-Romagna Region to support the regional companies’ participation. The first was MM Contemporary Dance Company, already guest in this edition with the show BALLAD (another Danza&Danza Award as “Best Italian Production”, in 2022).
After the Belgrade Dance Festival, Dewey Dell’s latest creation is awaited with great interest at the National Theatre in Subotica, where it will be on stage on March 28 and 29.
