Premiere of "Frontières#Tunisie" by Instabili Vaganti

At the Palais du Théâtre el Halfaouine in Tunis and at the festival "Journées Théâtrales de Carthage". November 27-28.

A new chapter of the ‘Beyond Borders’ international project, conceived and directed by Instabili Vaganti theatre company and supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture: Frontières#Tunisie, in co-production with the National Theatre of Tunisia and the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis.

The production project included the selection of a group of young actors and dancers, Italian and Tunisian, who, together with the founders of the company Anna Dora Dorno and Nicola Pianzola, took part in an artistic residency in September 2024 at the Théâtre National Tunisien and in the archaeological sites of Carthage and Oudna (Uthina), where the videos screened in the show were filmed.
The team of artists resumed work in November, and they are continuing until the debut of the show at the Palais du Théâtre el Halfaouine on November 27 (5 pm). A second performance will take place on November 28 (5 pm) within the prestigious festival JTC - Journées Théâtrales de Carthage.

The performance directed by Anna Dora Dorno explores all types of borders – geographical, artistic, interpersonal and mental, which are given back to the audience in the form of dance, physical actions, songs, and texts in different languages, through which the performers express the meaning they attribute to the word "border".
The performers – four Tunisians and three Italians, including actor and playwright Nicola Pianzola – delve into their own past, their own cultural and performative traditions to understand the present, to tell through gestures, actions, texts, and songs the limits they had to overcome, the borders they tried to cross to assert their identity, and the new challenges awaiting them.

“We will continue to dance in precarious balance on those invisible lines that we have drawn and that we call borders”: these are just some of the words that convey the profound meaning of this co-productive project, namely the power of art to unite and overcome any barrier.
An exhortation to dance which is also addressed to the viewers: at the end of the performance, they are invited to dance, to let themselves go, to try to break, in a collective, almost ritualistic way, those boundaries which, before being geographical, are also often mental and interpersonal.
