Germany – Accademia Bizantina at the KLANGVOKAL Musikfestival Dortmund
The 16th edition of the KLANGVOKAL Musikfestival of Dortmund – event that aims to presents the diversity of vocal music from all over the world, from opera, classical vocal music to jazz and world music to pop – will take place from May 24 to June 16. But before the festival really begins, the 'multi-award-winning orchestra' Accademia Bizantina is called to anticipate the May and June concerts.
On March 15, at the Reinoldihaus Dortmund (7:30 pm), Accademia Bizantina will perform the concert 'Porpora: i Misteri del Dolore'.
The programme includes little-known gems of Italian baroque music: the “Duetti per la Passione di Gesù Cristo” and the “Lezioni per il Mercoledì Santo” by Nicola Porpora, the Concerto Grosso Op 3 no 6 by Francesco Geminiani, and the Concerto Grosso Op 6 no 4 by Alessandro Scarlatti.
Under the direction of early music 'star’ –as he is now defined– Ottavio Dantone, as usual also on harpsichord, the orchestra will be accompanied by soprano Suzanne Jerosme and contralto Delphine Galou.
