France – Silvia Gribaudi with MM Contemporary Dance Company at Le Grand Bain Festival
There is a new European stage for GRAND JETÉ, the new choreographic project by Silvia Gribaudi created with MM Contemporary Dance Company, the Reggio Emilia based dance company directed by Michele Merola.
Grand Jeté, a bit split in the air, is one of the most impressive and virtuoso jumps in ballet. In this brief escape from gravity, everything seems possible. Together with ten dancers from the MM Contemporary Dance Company, choreographer Silvia Gribaudi playfully explores the metaphorical meaning of this movement transposed to everyday life. How much effort does this take-off towards the unknown require? And what kind of adventures can a landing bring? Silvia Gribaudi’s “Grand Jeté” also becomes a metaphor for rebellion and possible hope: a conscious leap towards a better future.
The show is guest of the 11th edition of the Festival Le Grand Bain, great widespread festival dedicated to contemporary dance organized by Le Gymnase CDCN -Centres de Développement Chorégraphique Nationaux in Roubaix, this year taking place from March 19 to April 12 in fifteen cities in the Hauts-de-France region.
Le Gymnase presents GRAND JETÈ in co-operation with Le Bateau Feu (Dunkerque), Le Phénix (Valenciennes), and La Faïencerie (Creil), and the performance is on stage in Dunkerque on March 19, in Valenciennes on the 22nd, and in Creil on the 28th.
