France – Accademia Bizantina at the 'Festival d'Opéra Baroque & Romantique de Beaune'
Accademia Bizantina returns to the Festival International d'Opéra Baroque & Romantique de Beaune, where they are now among the 'regular' and very welcome guests.
The orchestra presents the concert version of Antonio Vivaldi's Il Tamerlano, the 'tragedia per musica' by Agostino Piovena which in Vivaldi's hands became a ‘pasticcio’, that is a work combining not only some of the author’s pre-existing pages but also those by other composers.
Together with the orchestra, the cast who has already performed on various Italian and international stages, both in the highly appreciated mise-en-scène of the opera and in its performance in concert form: Filippo Mineccia (Tamerlano, countertenor), Bruno Taddia (Bajazet, baryton), Delphine Galou (Asteria, contralto), Marina de Liso (Andronico, mezzo-soprano), Shaked Bar (Irene, soprano), while Benedetta Mazzuccato (Idaspe, soprano) will be making her debut.
Il Tamerlano is scheduled on July 13 (9 pm) in the amazing setting of the Cour des Hospices, one of the three 'iconic venues' of the Festival.
