Finland – Silvia Gribaudi with MM Contemporary Dance Company at the Side Step Festival 2024
GRAND JETÈ – the choreographic project by Silvia Gribaudi with MM Contemporary Dance Company, continues its European tour.
Silvia Gribaudi, as in her previous shows, develops choreographic research by choosing to be on stage and dialoguing in the present time with both dancers and audience.
Inspired by the virtuosity of the big split in the air in ballet’s artistry, the choreographer explores the metaphorical meaning of this impressive step in everyday life. Ten dancers from MM Contemporary Dance Company – the Reggio Emilia based company directed by Michele Merola – are on stage with her. “Young people are those who can make all humanity take a leap”, says Silvia Gribaudi. “This is why I chose a company of young dancers who have the passion and desire to take us to other worlds starting from a grand plié, but all together to arrive at a grand jeté!”.
After the world premiere at the Tanec Praha International Dance Festival in June 2023, the show was performed in September in Sweden and France, at the Lyon Biennale, and again in France, in Paris, in January 2024.
The new stage of the European tour is in Finland. GRAND JETÈ is guest of the Side Step Festival organized by Zodiak – Center for New Dance in Helsinki, and will be on stage on February 4 in Helsinki at the Dance House (6 pm).
The show will return in France in March, guest of the Festival Le Grand Bain, organized by Le Gymnase CDCN -Centres de Développement Chorégraphique Nationaux.
