Austria – The international debut of Aterballetto’s new creation: 'Notte Morricone'
The National Choreographic Centre / Aterballetto pays tribute to Ennio Morricone with a new production conceived by one of the major international choreographers, Marcos Morau.
With his visionary power and the ability to transfigure musical universes, the Spanish author proposes a unique creation that intertwines dance, visual arts, and cinematic suggestions.
Marcos Morau approaches the iconic repertoire of Ennio Morricone, paying homage to it and liberating it from the canonical context of interpretation and presentation. As he himself declares, «although it is almost impossible to separate his music from the images that accompany it, Morricone transcends and intertwines with life itself, with memories, and with the beauty and cruelty of a world that continues to advance».
The show debuted at the Macerata Opera Festival on August 1st, 2024 – the world premiere outdoor. On October 24-25, the world premiere indoor was within the 39th edition of the Romaeuropa Festival, and from October 27 to November 10 it was on stage at the Teatro Argentina in Rome, opening show of the theatre’s season.
After the highly applauded sixteen performances at the Teatro Argentina, Notte Morricone starts its international tour. The first stage is in Austria on November 23, at the prestigious Festspielhaus in St. Pölten (7:30 pm).
Here, Marcos Morau's choreography will be accompanied by Ennio Morricone’s immortal music performed live by the Tonkünstler Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Maurizio Billi.
The next stage will be in Germany on December 21, at the Forum am Schlosspark in Ludwigsburg.
