My biography is blood and flesh, not entertainment.
I am one, but we are thousands.
Indestructible and broken

(Faruk Šehic)

Brothers: War Poems and Chronicles
is a piece about war in its broadest sense, written by Faruk Šehic, soldier-poet, and Gian Paolo Mai, who is also the director. “What we have staged is not a show. There is nothing spectacular. What will take place is a meeting between those who know and those who have the right to listen to”, the authors underlines.

Brothers talks to us about the plagues of conflicts of the 'short 20th century', the century of light but also of genocides, and invites us to be witnesses free from conditioning on what is still happening today. It tells the absurdity and tragedy of every armed conflict, and shows us the catastrophe of all wars, trying to send a message of peace.

The piece is inspired by the short film of the same name produced by Cesena Film Academy, acquired by Rai Cinema and Sky and winner of numerous festivals. The whole project has been developed by Gian Paolo Mai, director and actor, as well as founder and professor of the Cesena Film Academy.

Brothers is presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by C ARTS and will be on stage from August 6 to 13.
