Switzerland – Spotlight on Romeo Castellucci at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne
Spotlight on Romeo Castellucci at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, which from May 10 to 13 hosts the performance Bros and the video-installation The Third Reich, besides a meeting with the author.
For many years under the artistic direction of Vincent Baudriller, the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne is committed to "an art that confronts the realities of our time" and offers a programme attentive to all artistic languages –theatre, dance, cinema, music, visual arts, which alternates internationally renowned projects and first creations.
Director Baudriller wanted the 2022-2023 season to be also marked by the presence of some great artists “with a strong and singular universe”: among these, Romeo Castellucci, defined as an «essential figure in the contemporary performing arts, opera, and plastic arts».
Castellucci will stage his most recent creations.
Bros is an extreme, disturbing show about violence and the degeneration of power, from which the spectator comes out reflecting on his relationship with authority, with the strength of the herd, and on what he is willing to lose of himself to be part of a whole.
The video-installation The Third Reich is also about violence, one of the many possible forms of violence: that of an imposed, obligatory communication, to remember how the word, the language can be suffered, can be manipulated by fascist regimes to influence minds.
Castellucci will also attend a conference on May 10: he will talk about his work with Eric Vautrin, playwright of the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, professor and theatre scholar.
